Brett-585x364People you could engage with in your church.

One of the pleasures of being the GC3 missions director is that I get to meet with mission partners who have been or are involved in significant cross cultural ministries. Recently Richard and Nancye Yarrall returned to New Zealand after serving in Los Angeles (over 40 years of service!). I had a brief time with them over coffee in Epsom as they stayed in Auckland for a few days. Richard and Nancye have been involved in Bible teaching, church planting, evangelism and a radio programme. They have lots of questions about how things have changed in New Zealand. Is there a desire for mission like there once was? I was impressed with this couples passion and desire to be useful, to make a difference. They aren't back here to retire. Richard expressed his desire to continue in ministry and mission here in New Zealand. He is available for Bible teaching or to share about their involvement in mission and how you could be involved. They are interested in being strategic. Their passion is for Latino's but if they can stimulate any interest in mission engagement, they want to be a part of that. If you would like to contact them in 2014 they can be reached through their email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

Another couple returning to New Zealand for a break is Brett and Karen Curtis. While they are home in New Zealand over the 2013-2014 summer they are happy to come and share their story and encourage your church.

Brett and Karen are missioneries working with YWAM Ships, based in Kona, Hawaii. They are dedicated followers of Jesus, are dynamic and energetic leaders and communicators, and have a passion for sharing the love and message of Christ.

They have spent many years in missionery service, including with the Caribean Mercy ship, then a stint in Tijuana - Mexico with homes of hope, and then in the last year or so establishing a new YWAM ships work involving smaller sailing vessels that are able reach many islands with the gospel that are otherwise inaccessible. They currently have two sailing boats to be based in Kona and reaching out to the islands of Micronesia, both with the scriptures and with the practical demonstration of the love of Christ.

Brett writes:

"Once we have both vessels safely moored in Kona, HI later this year we will begin deployments into Micronesia scheduled over the next few years. This region is clearly the most isolated area of the liquid continent and consequently the most impoverished. The strategy is to forward position both vessels & deploy teams on board for 2-3 weeks at a time. Teams are being recruited now and comprise of students on field assignment (outreach) along with specific skilled volunteers embedded among them. The skilled volunteers offer a variety of skills among them doctors, dentists, opticians, news reporters, midwives, water specialists, sports ministry personalities and bible trainers."

Brett and Karen will be home in NZ between Dec 9 and Jan 9 and are available to speak.

It is my prayer that the current support network that they have, including that here at The Orchard in Te Puke, be strengthened, and widened.

If you would like to learn more of what they do, or would like to invite them to share with you, Brett may be contacted directly at: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

God is continuing to build his Kingdom through people like Richard and Nancye, Brett and Karen and people like you and me. Lets encourage one another with the story of God's work in the world in places other than our own. Jesus' call to 'Go' has not ceased.

If we can help you in any way to give a more global picture of God at work through our mission partners I am available to share at your church or to work with your mission team or leadership in shaping your global strategy.

We have opportunities for teams to go to PNG or Fiji next year.
